Ghost Mountain Lightning is a brand-new version of a classic regional band, comprised of grizzled veterans of the Western N.C. music scene, mostly original members of the group, which played throughout the Southeast from 1998 to 2012. Ghost Mountain released two well-received albums, played hundreds of club, private, and festival gigs (including Asheville's Bele Chere, Johnson City, TN's Blue Plum Festival. and Knoxville, TN's Alive after Five), were voted Best Band in WNC by Asheville Citizen-Times readers in 2006, and enjoyed worldwide radio airplay. After a several year hiatus, the band is having a revival! Emphasizing roots blues, swamp rock, New Orleans R&B, and original Appalachian soul, the band aims to pay tribute to their legendary predecessors, while exploring new tributaries to the mighty river of the blues. On keyboards and vocals is Larry Vesely, originally from Chicago. Tim Malone, raised in south Mississippi, holds down the bass, while J.P. Delanoye (a.k.a. Lucky James) is on guitar, harp and vocals. All spent time in south Louisiana, and the spicy funk of the music there has been a primary influence. Between new originals and classic soul and R&B, they're bound to help get the good times rollin'!
